In the /cracks/ we find ourselves | Dragon šŸ‰ Letter #81

A note about consent: I’m sharing the backdrop for a new offering, Time Devotionā„¢ Renewal Kit this week. It will be followed up with a three-email series over the coming days.

Remember, if you only want to read Dragon Letters, just note that ā€œDragon šŸ‰ Lettersā€ won’t be in the preview text of the series, and you can skip them if you’re not interested in learning more. And if you don’t have the capacity, you can always unsubscribe and return later if you desire.

My friend Cher Hale from Ginkgo PR, has a new offering that you might be interested in if visibility is a focus for you right now. In her new workshop series, she’ll answer questions like:

  • How do you find the right shows to pitch, especially ones that are values-aligned?

  • How do you condense your multiple careers, interests, and 10+ years of experience into a few sentences?Ā

  • How do you land spots on noteworthy shows without a big network or influential connections?

  • How do you avoid tokenizing yourself?

  • How do you write a subject line + a pitch that stands out in overflowing inboxes?

If it sounds aligned, you can learn more about it here.

Enrollment closes: Friday, October 18.

Dear Beautiful Wildlings,

I’ve sat here lately with a kind of sadness that doesn’t find easy words, witnessing our world’s crises — from relentless climate chaos to deepening divides and unthinkable violence.Ā

The latest wave of deadly, topological remapping weather extremes brought new vocabulary that I don’t want to learn: Fujiwara effect, atmospheric rivers — phrases reminding us of shifting realities we shouldn’t have to endure.Ā

And in the same breath, wars, rage, and unthinkable genocide cast shadows over communities and lands, from my beloved Mesoamerica to Palestine, Lebanon, Nicaragua, DRC, Syria, and South Sudan… names and places where people should be living, thriving, yet are forced into unimaginable suffering.Ā

It all feels so heavy, so relentless.

For me, this heaviness presses on a question we all face: How do we keep going when everything feels fractured?

I’ve been feeling my way through this by reconnecting to the heart of my work, asking myself how I can show up fully — even if ā€œfullyā€ looks different right now.

And in that questioning, I kept coming back to Time. Not as a thing to control, but as a relationship I want to celebrate.

My response-ability in these moments is to double down on what’s most precious, to commit more deeply to the work we’re here to do. Honoring Time as a friend, reconnecting to our bodies, and unmasking our authentic selves have been my anchor and a way to carry forward the vision I want to share with each of you.

Because, even in a world that feels increasingly precarious, our work is still needed.Ā We are still needed.

So I returned to my foundations, to the heart of what I believe about Time, Energy, and Creative Flow.

Coming Back to Our Core in Chaos

One thing I know to be true: when we meet these challenging times with a deeply rooted connection to ourselves and our passions, we find power in places we didn’t think to look. The world may spin, and expectations may pull us in different directions, but when we align with our true rhythm, an unwavering strength emerges.

This work wasn’t born from theory — it grew out of lived experience.Ā

I’ve been in that space of juggling too much, trying to be productive while staying true to what my heart calls me to do. So much of my journey was about undoing that old way of pushing through and learning how to weave gentleness, rest, and receptivity into my practice and purpose.Ā

Much was forced as I learned how to navigate living in a body disabled by pushing through over and over. It was about learning that I didn’t need to fit into the world’s idea of a “productive person” — I just needed to devote myself to what truly mattered.

What If You Saw Time as a Sacred Being?

When life feels fragile, leaning into our work can be powerful. But we’ve been told that devoting ourselves to our work means being more productive, hustling harder, and doing all the things. And maybe you’ve felt that pull, too, to rush and fill every second with ā€œimportantā€ things.

But I relate to Time differently now. And in these last few weeks, that sense has only gotten stronger. Time isn’t something to fit neatly into blocks or to hack into submission. It’s something that asks for respect, for intention, and — when we’re able — for devotion.

I created the Time Devotionā„¢ Renewal Kit for revolutionary leaders, writers, and creatives like you because I’ve seen the difference it makes when we center Time as something sacred.Ā

This isn’t about adding hours to the day or forcing yourself into a productivity spiral. It’s about learning to approach your work and energy with intention, with awareness, and with a commitment to what matters most.

That’s how the Time Devotionā„¢ Renewal Kit came to life, weaving together core practices I’ve cultivated over the years — ones that bring us back to our center, to our authentic flow.

I built this offering with you in mind for when life feels like too much, for when the chaos seems unrelenting, for those of us needing immediate triage to show up in our purpose without burnout.

Because we can hold space for both — both grief and strength, both peace and purpose.

Embracing the Power of Presence, Not Pressure

When we’re out of sync with Time, everything feels like a battle. We push, we hustle, we chase — but the truth is, we’re fighting ourselves.Ā

So here’s my invitation: rather than pushing harder or holding yourself to unrealistic ideals, what if you gave yourself permission to slow down? To create from a place of presence instead of pressure?Ā

ā€œThese times are urgent, let us slow down.ā€ BĆ”yò AkómolĆ”fĆ©

This isn’t about adding more to your plate or burning out in the name of productivity. It’s about honoring our unique timing, our bodies, and the work we’re here to do — even in a world that feels out of control. Because it IS out of our control. And we can all show up today with our precious gifts. This is what Time asks of us.

Each of you holds a vital piece of what we need to move forward. Whether you’re creating art, leading change, or simply navigating the beauty and heartbreak of these times with integrity, your voice matters. And I believe we all have gifts worth honoring and sharing, especially now.

So, this is my offering to you: to help you reconnect with your own sacred rhythm, your unique creative flow, and the wellspring of energy within you.

This is about more than a toolkit; it’s about learning to listen to what Time and your ancestors are asking of you, reclaiming your energy from the draining pressures around us, and igniting that creative spark that never truly dies — it just needs your nurturing breath to rekindle.

Time Devotionā„¢ isn’t just a kit. It’s a companion, a steady hand, and a reminder that even as the world feels fragmented, we can be whole.

Here’s why it works:

  • Time Alignment: Reconnect with what matters most by grounding your choices in your values. Instead of managing every minute, you start honoring the rhythms that guide you.

  • Energy Renewal: Break the cycle of depletion by focusing on practices that restore, not drain. This isn’t about hustle; it’s about restoration.

  • Body Trust: Listen to your body’s cues and learn to work in flow with yourself, not against. A body that trusts you and knows you’ll listen to it creates synergy for Flow. And that’s where creativity thrives.

In this chaotic world, honoring these basics matters. Maybe more than ever. And while I can’t fix the world’s fractures, these /cracks/ — the liminal spaces where old ways of being dissolve and the new hasn’t fully emerged — hold the potential for change.

BĆ”yò AkómolĆ”fĆ© reminds us to ā€œpause, stay with the trouble, and dance with the mountains.ā€ It’s in these fissures, these breaks in what we once knew, that creativity, identity, and self can be reimagined, challenged, and reborn. And I’m here to help you reclaim that for yourself.

Together, let’s reclaim that strength and rekindle that passion. And let’s remember that we still have power in the face of chaos.

Here’s to the work that sustains you…

Stay wild, love fiercely. Your presence is golden.

With wild and rebellious love and reverence,

Ciao! xo Ixchel
