Do you look up and gaze at the stars, wondering where you came from?

My first love is the Cosmos. I almost went into Astrophysics in college. I took all the Astronomy I could at SRJC. I was a TA, training students how to use telescopes, even to take astrophotography photos with them. I loved it. That summer of 1992 watching comet Shoemaker-Levy hit Jupiter was phenomenal.
•
But given the immense difficulty of women having success in Astrophysics, and even less success for women of color and single mothers, I decided to study women in science and religion instead.
•
Metaphysics was the higher calling. Dancing through the Astral realms, drinking the sweet honey milk of our galaxy’s heart, kissing newborn stars, making love the rhythm of the pulsating quasars. That’s my jam.

When was the last time you built a #blanketfort?

It’s burn season in the jungle highlands of Nicaragua. As an asthmatic —sensitive to smoke — it’s rough. I’ve been hiding indoors between shifting air patterns. Not easy for a gardener beekeeping Sag.
.
Despite the smoke, I meditate in my outdoor tree house (second story glam patio overlooking the valley through the trees). So much gratitude to be alive in this time to see where I can bring harmony to the land, #pachamama.
.
The past few days I’ve embraced my inner child that loves a good blanket fort by wrapping my pashmina in creative ways as a filtered respirator.
.
Hubby @bearfuht will be bringing me back a @vogmask in a couple of weeks. I wish they made them for cats and dogs. My Ysabella had a hard night of wheezy breathing last night. We’ve got the eucalyptus oil going in the diffuser today. Taking my #mullien tincture daily too. Not sure if it’s ok for cats and dogs.
.
Despite the smoke I am loving the #blanketforts as a morning ritual of continuing to create space for myself, my #morningsadhana and #morningmeditation practice.
.
Connecting with my #innerchild this way is delightful and helps me renew the wonder and #beginnersmind that can get clouded by those persistent old emotional loops that I recognize and let go of.

Novelty. Are you creative?

We are wired to love novelty. But somewhere that wiring crossed as we learned fear and self hatred. We turned away from loving the novelty we can create from our innate gifts, talents and medicine. Consumerism taught us to love novelty in others forms, things to buy to fill the void of not-enough-ness.
As child it was the newest Hello Kitty tchotchkes. And as a parent it was feeding those desires for my daughters in buying throw away junk when they outgrew the handmade wooden Waldorf toys.
One day I woke up. I exchanged buying mass-produced junk for handmade. But I realized even that was feeding my inner longing to love my own novelty. Kyle Cease @evolvingoutloud talked about this on the call last night as falling in love with our ideas rather than where they come from, our Selves.
There is such a Divinity in the creation of ideas, of things. And if we forget that we made them and fail to appreciate that we will instead continue searching for what we lack, falling Love with who made it.
You are such an incredible rainbow light of renewal. Your creativity is Divine. However you express it, fall in Love with where is comes from in You.

What a year! 2018 has had its highs and lows, it’s had laughter and 2-minute dance parties and hiding in the dark hearing the gunfire moving closer, holy shit tragic moments. ????????????

What made this year so incredible was my response-ability to all the moments. I was able ride peaks and valleys with my soul intact and shining brightly with fierce Love in my heart. ????
.
It was the first year I can remember NOT being focused on my weight, ending the year without gaining another 5 pounds, having figured out what my body needs and giving myself permission to heal in the present, through my ancestors and raise my vibration to create an exciting, fun future. ????????‍♀️
.
I am so grateful to be alive in this time. To bring Light to world through connecting to our rhythm and flow, to our hearts’ transformation, to our medicine gifts to guide the planet through this time of flux and transition. ????????☮️????

Throwback to Mindvalley Train the Teacher in September. So much shifted in 2018. I’m so grateful to @ajitnawalkha and @neetabhushan for all their incredible coaching this year and what they bring to the world in serving Love.

This photo was an accidental snap, but it captured that moment in between dimensions when the multitude of possibilities is available to us. As we awaken to what our hearts’ desire and tap into the Multiverse our future selves show up to give us glimpses of what awaits us.

December 24th has always been the most precious of days on the calendar. It is my Grandma Bea’s birthday. On the day she was born, all the flowers were born.
.
Though long since returning to aether, her presence today it ever palpable. She even carried a Christmas tree birthmark on her arm. ????
.
Bea loved sharing her birthday with our family as a way to bring everyone together around the old mahogany round table.
.
We ate the tamales we had made together a few weeks earlier, with the let loose dance, libations and laughter.
.
Wrapping paper would be torn in a squeal of delight and the room would burst forth with new toys for the dozen grandchildren and rent-a-kids.
.
In the earlier days there would be an exquisitely decorated cake with winter scenes made by her master baker friend René. We would sing Las Mañanitas, hopeful for every beautiful morning.
.
Her wrinkly skin so soft and sweet, like a raisin in the sun, reminding us to age in sweetness and let go of all that makes us bitter.
.
Today is precious. I am still unwrapping her gifts and cherishing her smile, the greatest gift she gave me.
