Your Rhythm is the Resistance

Reclaim Speaking Your Truth to Power: Resources for Relational Resistance

Hola! I’m Ixchel Lunar (they/them), an Indigenous time ecologist, ancestral medicine guide, and rhythm witch for creative rebels, decolonial dreamers, and neuroqueer visionaries. This Substack is dedicated to weaving business, body, and belonging into something no empire can replicate. Still punk as fuck. Still cozy in the chaos.

Beautiful Wildlings,

This Black Friday and Indigenous Heritage weekend, I am reflecting on what it means to stay creative, sovereign, and true to self during a season when collective pressure to perform gratitude reaches its loudest pitch.

Yesterday’s post brought a powerful exchange. Someone shared how the framing of leadership rooted in deep Time, lineage medicine, and rhythm felt like truth. They asked whether people resist it because productivity conditioning runs so deep.

The short answer is yes.

We absorb grind conditioning through school, through family systems, through survival. Bodies learn to override exhaustion until collapse becomes routine. Overwork becomes the rhythm. Fatigue becomes the baseline. Stillness is uncomfortable because it disrupts conditioning.

My public work interrupts that pattern and calls out the trance.
My client work stays close through the discomfort that follows.

This path requires devotion.
Listening to the body when the mind seeks adrenaline.
Staying with the unease when new pacing feels unfamiliar.
Choosing rhythm from ancestry and capacity.

There is no single moment when liberation arrives.
There is a gradual return to self through Time, cycle, and pulse.

My work centers leaders who refuse to disappear, who refuse to shrink, and who carry memory as fuel for the path forward. This season asks for that kind of presence.

What stands out most is the power of knowing who we are and how we move in the world as a foundation for resistance.

When we work with personal cosmology, our unique framework of identity, creativity, and purpose, we reclaim agency even under systems that aim to stifle expression. This is self-knowledge rooted in lineage and carried into movements that defy fascism and nurture collective liberation.

To honor this journey and make the work accessible through Monday, the IHD sale is open for bundles and mentorship pathways. An invitation to deepen into self connection, to strengthen capacity, and to align with liberated Flow.

Land Lineage

I was raised and bore children on the traditional, unceded, and stolen lands of the Coast and Central Valley Miwok (colonized as Petaluma, CA) and Nisenan (colonized as Sacramento and Fair Oaks, CA), past, present, and future. I also write, work, and live in the highland forest of the traditional, unceded and stolen lands of the Totonac, Nahua, and Mexicah, past, present, and future, in what is known as Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico.

P.P.S. I do not live or consent to the colonial impositions regarding the construct of Time. I also practice honoring rhythms of work, play, and rest so that I can serve you with embodied presence and with loving care. This means I may take several days to respond to your requests and questions. (h/t Eva Glamaris)
