Is it only for Queer femmes? (Keep your questions coming! My Manifesting Generator with sacral response loves it!)
A while back I learned the acronym FLINTA* as an alternative to the often transphobic “women and femmes only” label put on typically cis het female only spaces.
This search for something better came after nearly joining a prominent women led program that used the “women and femmes only” label that felt like it was a cover for surface inclusivity.
After peeking at one of the leaders IG feed, I could tell from the multiple cis het photos of her sensually posed with her male lover, that my being nonbinary and queer was probably something that would make the facilitator uncomfortable.
And it definitely wouldn’t have been a space for my Trans kid (the litmus test of event spaces for me).
If you are a facilitator of space-making, WHO you want in your space is something you need to know about yourself so you do not create harm for your participants.
FLINTA* is a German acronym that emerged to create more inclusion in Femme and Queer spaces. It stands for Female/Femme, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, Agender, *, and sometimes FLINTAQ adding Queer. The asterisk is like the + in LGBTQIA+ to cover anything overlooked.
Is it Queer only? It does leave out cis het males on purpose as FLINTA* spaces are for those who specifically seek patriarchal-free spaces.
BUT the Gathering Threads: Chiapas Highland Flow Writing Retreat is open to any cis het women that are friends and allies of Queer people.

As your host and facilitator, I hold multiple underrepresented identities (disabled, mixed-indigenous, gender fluid non-binary, queer, vision-impaired, neuro-emergent medicine carrier) and am creating a Brave space for people that want to dream and learn from people like me.
