Hola my dear friend,
Happy Full Moon in Capricorn conjunct Pluto (deep transformative feelings)! For me this full moon is happening on my natal Venus, trine my Saturn and Pluto. So, as usual, I’m here to drop some wisdom so you can leverage my hardships in repairing your relationships.
These Times continue to be incredibly difficult for so many people, but especially for Edgewalkers β the marginalized folx in dominator culture. A day hasn’t gone by where I’m not actively regulating my nervous system this year.
Because stress is at the core of so many auto-immune and other dis/eases, I’ve been researching it and looking at how to decolonize it. I’m curious about how dominator culture and big medicine views it, and how it used to be spoken about when I was young, but now it’s rare to hear anyone verbalize being stressed. Enter “Ambient Stress,” a new-to-me term from Umair Haque (see below).
Stay wild, love fiercely. Your presence is golden.

Decolonizing Stress
I follow British economist Umair Haque on Medium, especially when I want to be validated by his nihilistic view of the U.S. He’s really not for the faint of heart (i.e. most comfortable, white U.S. Americans).Β

Haque recently reflected on going with the Flow in his “little European neighborhood.” He described what I call Wild Presence as he wandered with his dog, chatting with neighbors, forgetting Time. During these moments his stress dissolves.
The more I examine “my stress” the more I realize it’s not actually mine. It is literally the residual traumas from living in dominator culture.
Add to it another brilliant term, “hurry sickness,” coined by a friend of a friend, and we have nibbled at the edge of the ruthless effects of brutal systems of productivity.
What I want to impart is that these dis/eases are manifested by the systems that want us to believe we are separated, individuals struggling with our illnesses alone. We are not, or at least we don’t have to be.
I’ve just returned from a neighborhood walk to pick up our CSA bag where I said “Buenas Tardes” no less than 10 times. I met a woman printing leaves from our local trees on rebozos (cotton pashmina-like wraps) handmade by OaxaqueΓ±as, as well as found a new cafe spot that is delightful.
I came home with local-made tamales, cacao and new coffee to try.
All this to say, remember to greet and know your neighbors, strike up a convo, buy locally made, and melt your stress away through connection. This is exactly the reason I’ve moved to only offering Collective space. We’re not meant to do this alone. Decolonizing is about repairing relationships. In fact, it reinforces the empire when believe we are separated. And it’s doing great damage to our body and soul.

Your Sanctuary to Cultivate Wild Presence for Thriving with a Planet in Transition
I was raised and bore children on the traditional, unceded, and stolen lands of the Coast and Central Valley Miwok (colonized as Petaluma, CA) and Nisenan (colonized as Sacramento and Fair Oaks, CA), past, present, and future. I also write, work, and live in the highland forest of the traditional, unceded and stolen lands of the Totonac, Nahua, and Mexicah, past, present, and future, in what is known as Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico.
P.P.S. I do not live or consent to the colonial impositions regarding the construct of Time. I also practice honoring rhythms of work, play, and rest so that I can serve you with embodied presence and with loving care. This means I may take several days to respond to your requests and questions. (h/t Eva Glamaris)
