We have entered the eclipse portal for the lunar and solar eclipses happening March 25 and April 8. These will be followed by the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction I spoke about in the Star Powered Panel (a 3-minute clip with a brief clip just before from Milada Sakic talking about a key part of the Jupiter in Gemini energy for the Writing Retreat).
Please don’t get caught up in all the conspiracy hype. Stay grounded and ready for the creative sparks to come. But protect yourself from the wacky influencers seeding fears about the eclipses.
Yes, things are heating up in the world. Yes, we must take a stand against the ongoing violence and colonization in Gaza. And channel your energy into lasting change. Tap into the creative energy to help shift the narrative.

Walking with the Spirit of the Forest
I was recently interviewed for a magazine about creativity. The excerpt is below. Throughout today’s Dragon Letter, I’m sharing some of the new images from my Walking with the Spirit of the Forest photoshoot in Montetik, Chiapas. I hope these images convey some of my protective practices for nurturing creativity and Flow.

How do you keep your creativity alive?
Mmmm, I love exploring creativity, as it’s linked with Flow states. For one, I don’t see creativity as something that’s mine; rather, I see it as an energy I can coax, cultivating conditions for it to emerge.
Keeping my creativity alive is an integral part of my existence, a sacred practice that intertwines with every thread of my life. It’s a dance with the cosmos, a deep listening to the earth’s rhythms, and a continuous dialogue with my ancestral wisdom imprinted on the myelin sheaths protecting my nervous system. Creativity connects me to collective memory and future visions of my mixed-indigenous heritage.
Decolonizing Time
A core aspect of nurturing my creativity involves decolonizing and befriending Time as an entity. Decolonizing means to repair and restore our relationships. To decolonize Time is to step away from the linear, productivity-obsessed framework that dominates modern life and instead understand Time as cyclical, spacious, and reflective of indigenous ways of being. In decolonizing Time, I create a space where creativity is not rushed or forced but can emerge in its own time, in harmony with the deeper currents of my being and the universe. This approach nurtures awe and wonder, liberates curiosity, and reveres creativity as a haptic, sacred embodiment of the cosmos. Repairing our relationship with Time leads to near-daily cycles of Flow states.
From Disembodiment to Embodied Creativity
As a survivor, I experienced repeated trauma, both in the womb and throughout childhood. However, I developed an effective coping mechanism of disembodied escapism through substance abuse, astral projection, and lucid dreaming that helped me to survive these challenges.
This phase of life was like navigating a nebulous void, with my soul safely untethered from the dangerous physical world. The challenge was not just to exist but to find a way to thrive, to retrieve my soul back to my body. The journey from this fragmented existence to one of wholeness was not linear; a spiral path led me inward, to the core of my being, and then outward, as I learned to express my inner world creatively.
The Alchemy of Transmutation
Pregnancy and becoming a teen mom of two by 18 was a significant transmutation catalyst. It demanded an alchemical shift from survival to thriving, turning the leaden weight of my past into the gold of my present creativity. The necessity to end cycles of abuse and be fully present, engaged, and responsible for the well-being of my children sparked my journey toward sobriety and self-reclamation.
This profound shift was not merely about recovery; it was about discovering the potent creative energy that arises when one is truly present in one’s body and when the spirit is no longer fleeting but firmly rooted in the now.

Attuning to the Cycles of Nature
My relationship with creativity is deeply rooted in my connection to the natural world. Just as the earth cycles through seasons, keeping creativity alive isn’t linear. It’s a process that ebbs and flows, mirroring the natural rhythms of growth, decay, renewal, and rest. I attune myself to these cycles, allowing creativity to be in relationship with Time, befriending Time.
Creativity is as fluid and dynamic as the tides, as expansive as the sky, and as grounded as the earth. This alignment with nature’s rhythms encourages creativity with a capacity for expansion, constantly renewed by the world and the shifting energies within me.

Cultivating a Holistic Practice
My creativity thrives on holistic integration, blending the wisdom of my ancestors with contemporary insights and expressions. It’s a practice that involves all dimensions of my being—physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. I engage in rituals that ground me, practices that inspire me, and art forms that challenge and excite me.
Whether through writing, storytelling, or designing transformative experiences for my clients, I ensure that my creative output reflects my inner landscape, imbued with the intention to heal, inspire, and help others see the world in a new light.
Embracing the Flow
The transformation of my early out-of-body experiences into a gift of Flow has been the cornerstone of my creative life. This transmutation involved feeling into the raw, unfiltered essence of my trauma experiences and channeling them into creative expressions.
The survival mechanism that once propelled me out of my body has evolved into a profound ability to enter Flow states, where Time bends, the ego dissolves, and pure creativity emerges. In these states, we are a conduit for the universe’s creative force, fully embodied yet boundlessly expansive, navigating the creative process with intuitive grace and fierce, wild presence.

Embodied Soul: Aligned Action in Flow
Today, my creativity celebrates a soul fully embodied, taking aligned action in a state of Flow. This journey from fragmentation to wholeness, from disconnection to profound embodiment of the Cosmos, is not just about personal healing; it’s a way of being that radiates outward, influencing everything I create and touch.
In essence, keeping my creativity alive is an act of resistance to that which sought to remove me from this world, a declaration of my resilience, and a celebration of my mixed indigenous roots. It’s a commitment to living fully, embracing the mystery of existence, and contributing to the ongoing creation of a world that honors all beings and their innate capacity to dream, imagine, and create.

🌎 Weaving Words, Weaving Worlds:Chiapas Highland Flow Writing Retreat, June 9-15. Why now? Our global narrative is at a pivotal crossroads. Betwixt and between, there lies a potent space for us to weave new stories and co-create a tapestry that values creativity, liberation, and the collective.
🌸 This retreat was created to be safe for me as a neuroemergent, nonbinary, queer person. And so it will be safe for all attendees. The people that have said, “Yes, I’m in!” are so affirming.
Truly safe spaces aren’t always easy to come by. And one to allow your creativity to flow is even less common. Ixchel has created something beautiful, and I hope you can see yourself here if you’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this 🫶🏽

👥 The friends and colleagues who said, ”I’ll absolutely share it with my people!” made me cry because of the lovely sentiments they said about me. Not having to mask or perform certain gendered acts is pure joy.
💸 AND… I’m so stoked to share I just received an anonymous 👼🏽 investment in this project to keep the cost of the retreat more affordable. I just posted a $500 price drop to the original early-bird pricing!
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Having an 👼🏽 investor is such a boost of confidence in creating a FLINTA* space (includes cis het women too).
✈️ PLUS… there’s still a few days to get the lowest pricing on flights before they start going up.

Your Sanctuary to Cultivate Wild Presence for Thriving with a Planet in Transition
I was raised and bore children on the traditional, unceded, and stolen lands of the Coast and Central Valley Miwok (colonized as Petaluma, CA) and Nisenan (colonized as Sacramento and Fair Oaks, CA), past, present, and future. I also write, work, and live in the highland forest of the traditional, unceded and stolen lands of the Totonac, Nahua, and Mexicah, past, present, and future, in what is known as Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico.
P.P.S. I do not live or consent to the colonial impositions regarding the construct of Time. I also practice honoring rhythms of work, play, and rest so that I can serve you with embodied presence and with loving care. This means I may take several days to respond to your requests and questions. (h/t Eva Glamaris)
