Threads of Light and Time, Weaving Lineages | Dragon šŸ‰ Letter #83

If you’re feeling the pull of Black Friday sales, I’d encourage you to shop from Indigenous-owned businesses. I’ve put my catalog of offerings on sale — bundles are up to 60% off. These mentorships, courses, and sessions are designed to help us thrive in these chaotic times. Some bundles and mentorships include 1:1 sessions with me, so spots are limited. Browse the catalog and reach out through my chat box if you have questions. I’ll respond during daylight hours.

I chose to participate in Indigenous Heritage Day sales to honor the wisdom and resilience of my ancestors and to invite you into this sacred exchange. Supporting Mixed-Indigenous-owned businesses is one way we can collectively reclaim sovereignty and thrive.

Hey Beautiful Wildlings!

I’m in Week 5 of the first of three 6-week intensives, and alongside this, I’ve been working with Eva Glamaris to heal my mother’s mother’s lineage.

Whew! It’s been a lot.

The blessings and gifts from the healing of my father’s mother’s lineage were precious. This work has been truly transformative; I’m now inspired to work through all eight grandparental lineages because it’s so damn fascinating!

Rose Amelia Boutin 1878-1921

My great-grandmother Rose Boutin passed in 1921 at 43, four days after giving birth to twins, a boy and a girl. The girl was stillborn and the last of 13 children. Years ago, I worked with an Indigenous healer, Darla Antoine, to address chronic back pain I’ve carried since deciding not to have more children at 22. But this impact has persisted as GG Rose has longed to live on vicariously through us.

GG Rose’s physical impact shows in our family’s history of autoimmune diseases — from my Grandma Emily to her daughter Joanna and several within me. I feel as though when I said the family abuse would end with me, it somehow has hopefully blocked my children and siblings from these diseases but is trying to end me. šŸ˜…

Rose appeared in a ghoulish form during sessions. My ancestral guide placed her in a healing cocoon and asked me to spin yarn with my drop spindle to assist in grounding the cocoon’s healing energy. Since then, I’ve experienced a knitting of silvery white threads of light around my spine. The pain has eased significantly, and I’ve cut my use of ghost pipe in half.

In return, my ancestors have been asking me to do things to continue the healing and application of the gifts our lineage carries.

Working with Eva has been transformative. When I met my mother’s mother’s ancestral guide, she showed me a view of the French Alps. Her name means ā€œwhere the sol/soul enters between two mountain faces.ā€

Through Google Earth, I found the exact location: the south end of Chamonix (pronounced Shamonee), a valley beneath the Alps with views of Aiguille Verte and other peaks cross. At certain times of the year, the sun rises from behind them, just as my ancestor explained.

Eva’s presence during rituals is deeply rooted. Her prayer and connection resonate with me, drawing on our overlapping cultures. The confidence of the ancestors in her care is undeniable.

This work has brought healing and shifted my relationship with abundance. Carrying the weight of my settler ancestors’ karma while blocking the gifts of my Indigenous ancestors has been unsustainable. I’m learning to receive abundance so I can help others heal through ancestral work. Living in lack isn’t an option anymore.

If you’ve hesitated about ancestor healing, what’s holding you back? Eva is an incredible guide with deep ritualist skills. Get on her books before she’s filled up (Eva’s email, Eva’s IG).

Not everything the ancestors ask is easy. I’m still grappling with a request regarding a living relative who was pivotal in my childhood adventures —teaching me to ride scooters at three, climb tile roofs at four, and sleep under the stars many a sweltering Sacramento summer.

We’ve had a falling out since my Abuelita’s passing, and reconciliation seems unlikely. Yet, I’m mending this tear energetically by holding onto the good memories.

One beautiful memory is how the hunting tradition from my father’s father’s lineage intertwined with the tamale-making of my father’s mother’s lineage—coming together in the venison tamales they made.

Ancestral healing isn’t just personal — it’s foundational to my work in Wild Presence (and more direct Ancestral Healing will be included next summer after I’ve completed the second 6-week intensive with Ancestral Medicine).

Connecting with healed ancestors, we tap into the wisdom and power that shape our Stellar Imprint. This alignment allows leaders to show up fully, cultivating Wild Kinship and guiding their communities authentically and purposefully.

I’d love to know how your ancestors are showing up for you, the good, the bad, and the ghoulish.

Stay wild, love fiercely. Your presence is golden.

With wild and rebellious love,

Ciao! xo Ixchel

Land Lineage

I was raised and bore children on the traditional, unceded, and stolen lands of the Coast and Central Valley Miwok (colonized as Petaluma, CA) and Nisenan (colonized as Sacramento and Fair Oaks, CA), past, present, and future. I also write, work, and live in the highland forest of the traditional, unceded and stolen lands of the Totonac, Nahua, and Mexicah, past, present, and future, in what is known as Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico.

P.P.S. I do not live or consent to the colonial impositions regarding the construct of Time. I also practice honoring rhythms of work, play, and rest so that I can serve you with embodied presence and with loving care. This means I may take several days to respond to your requests and questions. (h/t Eva Glamaris)
