Visit 8th & Bee on the Sonoma-Marin Eco-Friendly Garden Tour

Tour our permaculture pollinator paradise on April 30. Grow food. Build Soil. Start here.

Eco-Friendly Garden Tour Flyer

8th & Bee Homestead & Resilience Guild is honored to participate in this year’s Eco-Friendly Garden Tour — a free public outreach and education program that promotes sustainable landscaping practices by showcasing inspiring gardens throughout Sonoma and North Marin Counties.

The tour is the work of a collaborative partnership between the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership, Daily Acts, and the California Native Plant Society Milo Baker Chapter. It highlights Russian River-Friendly and Bay-Friendly landscaping best practices, and supports QWEL certified professionals by featuring their personal or client’s gardens.

You can get more info and register for the tour for free here.

Ours is one of more than 30 sites (and growing) participating this year (Editor’s note: the tour organizers will be posting the full list of garden tour stops soon. We’ll update this post when that list is available.)

Even though we made quick work of our garden installation after moving into 8th & Bee in Fall of 2014, it wasn’t quite ready to make the 2015 tour.

This year we’re ready.

More than 1000 cubic feet of landscaping rock moved, hugelkultur garden bed installed, a full year’s beekeeping under our belts, new trees and plant guilds added — and we’re still just getting started. We’ll be tying into the tour’s themes of permaculture, homesteading, water conservation, and pollinator love — and using our homestead as a demonstration and teaching garden.

We’ve already drawn so much joy from building relationships with our neighbors around the homestead. It’s pretty fun to be able to share it with the community-at-large this year in an “official” way. 🙂 Hope you can join us April 30 between 10am to 4pm!

(JWB Note: We’ll add to this post with tour updates an goings-on as they happen. Check back for the latest.)
